8 Dead, 26 Rescued as Storey Building Collapses in Lagos
At least eight persons, including a baby girl, have been confirmed dead following the collapse of a storey building near Alakija Bus Stop along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway in Satellite Town, Lagos State.
Emergency response officials said 26 persons have so far been rescued from the rubble, while concerns remain that additional victims, including shop owners and occupants, may still be trapped under the debris.
Rescue operations are ongoing as emergency teams continue efforts to locate survivors and clear the wreckage. Those rescued have been handed over to medical personnel for urgent treatment.
Heavy-duty equipment, including excavators, has been deployed to accelerate the removal of debris and improve access to parts of the collapsed structure.
Authorities have appealed to residents in the area to remain calm and stay away from the scene to allow emergency responders to carry out uninterrupted rescue operations.
