A Divine Purge: Primate Ndukuba and Bishop Ezeofor Hammer Down, Sacking Awka Diocese Lord Chancellor B.E.I. Nwofor, SAN, Over Mutinous Communique
The internal implosion rocking the Anglican Diocese of Awka has reached a decisive turning point, with church leadership demonstrating zero tolerance for institutional mutiny, legal rascality, and open defiance of canon law.
Following the brazen antics of the suspended Bishop, Most Rev. Alexander Ibezim, and his legal team—who attempted to use court injunctions and rebellious communiques to resist a legitimate 6-month investigative suspension over multi-billion-naira land scandals—the church has struck back decisively.
In an official letter dated October 17, 2026, issued from the Office of the Supervising Bishop at Emmaus House Complex, Awka, and signed by Rt. Rev. Dr. Samuel C. Ezeofor, the church announced the immediate removal of Sir B.E.I. Nwofor, SAN (of Emmanuel Chambers, Port Harcourt), as the Chancellor of the Diocese of Awka.
The sack letter didn't mince words, explicitly calling out the senior lawyer for his disgraceful conduct:
“Following your ignoble and unfortunate activities regarding the events in the Diocese of Awka where you used your position as the Chancellor of the Diocese to undermine the authority of the Primate of the Church of Nigeria, and flout lawful directives of the Church authority which are acts intended to bring the Church of Nigeria into disrepute, we hereby inform you that you are unfit to remain as the Chancellor of a Diocese under the same Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) led by the Primate.”
Sir Nwofor has been ordered to hand over all diocesan properties, files, and legal documents in his possession to the Legal Secretary immediately.
This bold move sends a thunderous message to rogue elements attempting to use secular litigation and senior advocate titles to shield financial malfeasance in the house of God. The Church of Nigeria cannot be held hostage by a syndicate of land grabbers and their legal mercenaries. The altar is being cleansed, and there is no hiding place for institutional saboteurs!
