Commuters And Residents In Ezeagu LGA Raise Alarm Over Deplorable State Of Ibite Olo Road Corridor

EZEAGU, ENUGU STATE — Community members, transport operators, and residents of Ibite Olo in Ezeagu Local Government Area are appealing for immediate intervention from the Enugu State Government and local administration over the severe breakdown of the main Ibite Olo road axis.

​The deteriorated state of the road—characterized by deep erosion gullies, flooded craters, and unpaved stretches—has severely disrupted daily economic activities, agricultural transport, and movement between local communities. Elderly residents and small-scale farmers carrying produce to regional markets report facing immense physical stress and high transportation costs, with commercial motorists often refusing to navigate the hazardous terrain.

​Local voices expressed deep frustration over prolonged administrative neglect, noting that past promises of sustainable road infrastructure for the agrarian corridor have yet to deliver lasting relief to rural dwellers. Community members are calling on the Executive Governor of Enugu State and the Ezeagu Local Government Chairman to prioritize emergency rehabilitation, grading, and drainage construction along the route to restore economic life to the area.

​In response to infrastructure deficits across rural belts, government representatives have previously noted ongoing state-wide road contract interventions aimed at linking agricultural zones across Udi, Ezeagu, and Uzo-Uwani LGAs.
