CONTROVERSY AS ACCORD PARTY FACTION ENDORSES OSUN APC CANDIDATE AT MEGA RALLY
The political landscape in Osun State experienced further turmoil ahead of the Saturday gubernatorial election following the public endorsement of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate by a factional National Leadership of the Accord Party.
Speaking at the APC Mega Rally in Osogbo, the factional leadership urged Accord Party members and supporters across the state to vote for the APC flagbearer in the upcoming poll. The declaration has immediately sparked swift pushback from rival party executives, who dismissed the faction's authority and characterized the endorsement as unconstitutional and lacking legal standing.
The political dispute comes amid ongoing legal battles and internal leadership tussles within the Accord Party nationally, as different factions continue to align with competing political interests ahead of the Osun governorship election.
"We are directing all Accord Party members across Osun State to come out in large numbers on Saturday and cast their votes for the APC candidate to ensure progress and development."
Election observers and civil society organizations have advised voters to remain peaceful and focused as the state prepares for Saturday's decisive poll amidst shifting political coalitions.
