ENUGU SECURITY BREAKTHROUGH: POLICE ARREST TEN CULT SUSPECTS, RESCUE TWO KIDNAPPED CHURCH WORSHIPPERS
The Enugu State Police Command has achieved significant security operational breakthroughs across two separate incidents in the state, securing the arrest of multiple criminal suspects and safely rescuing abducted citizens.
In an intelligence-led operation at Obeagu Ogui within Enugu metropolis, police operatives acting on actionable information apprehended ten suspected cultists. During preliminary interrogations, the suspects confessed to active membership in various unlawful secret societies operating across the state. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Enugu, where comprehensive investigations are ongoing to uncover their full criminal network.
Meanwhile, joint security forces comprising police operatives, Forest Guards, and local Neighbourhood Watch members have successfully rescued two worshippers who were abducted from St. Joseph Catholic Church in Inoyi Community, Affa, within Udi Local Government Area.
The victims, who were taken during an invasion of the church premises, were freed unhurt after security forces mounted intense pressure and pursued the fleeing assailants deep into surrounding forest corridors.
Following their safe extraction, the rescued victims were debriefed by security officials and have been successfully reunited with their families, while operational teams maintain surveillance across the axis to track down the remaining perpetrators.
