EXAM MALPRACTICE: ESUT SUSPENDS THREE LAW STUDENTS FOR TWO YEARS, EXONERATES ONE

The Senate of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) has approved the immediate two-year suspension of three undergraduate students from the Faculty of Law after establishing their involvement in examination malpractice.

​The disciplinary action affects Isong Onyekachukwu Ugwu (Registration Number: ESUT/2023030212973), Gad Nwosu (Registration Number: ESUT/2022030203441), and Roseline Chinyere Nnamani (Registration Number: ESUT/2024030219772). Their suspension spans two academic calendar years, effective from June 25, 2026, through June 24, 2028.

​Acting on behalf of the University Senate, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Aloysius-Michaels Okolie, approved the recommendations submitted by the Senate Examinations Malpractice Committee. In official communications dated July 30, 2026, issued by ESUT Registrar Ambrose G. Ugwu, the affected students were directed to hand over all university property in their possession to their respective Heads of Department and vacate the campus premises immediately.

​"In line with the recommendations of the Senate Examinations Malpractice Committee, the affected law students have been suspended for two academic years and instructed to hand over university property and vacate campus immediately. Official notifications have also been dispatched to their sponsors and the National Universities Commission."

​The university management confirmed that formal notifications regarding the suspension have been dispatched to the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the sponsors of the affected students. The university further noted that the students will be required to reapply for readmission upon the expiration of their sanction in June 2028.

​Conversely, another law student, Goodluck Iwuamadi (Registration Number: ESUT/2025030227502), was completely exonerated of all examination malpractice allegations following the findings and recommendations of the malpractice panel.
