Federal Government Suspends Proposed WAEC and NECO Examination Fee Hike

The Federal Government has announced the suspension of the proposed increase in examination fees for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Examinations Council (NECO), which was scheduled to take effect in 2027.

According to the government, the decision was made to allow for broader consultations with key stakeholders, including education authorities, examination bodies, parents, school proprietors, labour unions, and civil society organisations.
