Gunmen Attack Nigeria Immigration Office in Ogbomoso, Disarm Officers and Cart Away Weapons – Police Launch Manhunt
The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed an armed attack on the Nigeria Immigration Service Passport Office in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, where suspected hoodlums invaded the facility, assaulted officers on duty, and carted away weapons and other valuables.
According to a statement issued by the Command, the incident occurred on Tuesday, 2nd June 2026, at about 8:45 p.m. when armed men reportedly scaled the rear fence of the facility, which is located along the Ogbomoso–Ilorin Motorway near a filling station in the area.
The attackers, said to be about five in number, allegedly overpowered two immigration officers on night duty, assaulted them with sticks and other weapons, and made away with a G3 rifle with ammunition, a mobile phone, a generator, and a motorcycle battery before escaping through a nearby bush path.
The injured officers have since received medical attention and are reported to be in stable condition.
The Command stated that tactical and surveillance teams were immediately deployed to the scene following a distress alert, with ongoing search operations extended to surrounding bushes and possible escape routes in a bid to apprehend the suspects and recover the stolen items.
The police also confirmed collaboration with the Nigeria Immigration Service and other security agencies to strengthen intelligence gathering and improve coordination for a swift breakthrough in the case.
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, directed intensified operations and assured residents that efforts are underway to ensure the perpetrators are arrested and brought to justice.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement or individuals to security agencies through designated emergency lines as investigations continue.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to safeguarding public facilities and preventing criminal elements from gaining ground within the state.
