"Hold Attackers Accountable or Face Anarchy": Kenneth Okonkwo Fires Back at Enugu Political Thuggery, Demands Swift Justice Over Fatal Attacks

The growing climate of political intimidation, thuggery, and bloodshed in Enugu State has drawn fierce national condemnation, with prominent political figures demanding immediate accountability. Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kenneth Okonkwo, has strongly denounced the violent disruptions targeting supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC)—notably during the gathering to welcome their governorship candidate at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, an incident that tragically claimed a life.

In a public statement released on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Okonkwo did not mince words, directly calling out the desperate desperate tactics deployed to capture power at all costs ahead of the 2027 general elections. He emphasized that security agencies must rise above complicity or indifference, warning that absolute lawlessness will inevitably take over if violent perpetrators are shielded from justice.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, Okonkwo stated:

“The disruption of the NDC rally in Enugu State, which was scheduled to welcome its governorship candidate... and which resulted in the death of some NDC supporters, is deplorable. The security agencies must thoroughly investigate this incident with a view to arresting the culprits and punishing them commensurately. Hold attackers accountable or face anarchy. Anarchy prevails when security agencies fail, refuse or neglect to hold violent attackers accountable for their actions.”

Furthermore, the ADC chieftain issued a passionate rallying cry to Nigerians, urging the resilient indigenes of Enugu State to stand up, reject electoral violence, and ensure that every citizen's right to vote is protected and that their ballots are allowed to count. As political tensions continue to soar toward 2027, the message from progressive voices remains clear: tyranny, intimidation, and bloodletting have no place in a true democracy.
