House Divided Against Itself: Enugu APC Foundation Members Cry Out, Accuse Governor Mbah of Systematic Exclusion and Political Betrayal

A political party built on the blood, sweat, and sacrifices of foundation members is fast becoming a theater of betrayal and internal warfare in Enugu State. Disenchanted over widespread marginalization, the founding and veteran members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the six local government areas of the Enugu North Senatorial District have declared that they have been pushed to the wall and will no longer remain silent.

In a scathing statement issued on Thursday by a party chieftain and former Director of Research, Strategy and Intelligence Matters at the APC National Headquarters, Abuja, Barth Ifeanyi Ugwoke Esq., the founding members exposed a systematic plot to erase their legacy and lock them out of party structures and elective positions.

The grievances, which sparked an emergency stakeholders' meeting across the zone, paint a bleak picture of internal exclusion:

Expunged Names: The group revealed that even the names of veteran members shortlisted for minor Ex-Officio and vice positions in Ward and LGA Executives are being maliciously wiped out.

Marginalization in Councils: Across all 106 wards in Enugu North Senatorial District, only one female from the foundation APC bloc was managed a councillorship ticket. Statewide, across all 17 local government areas, not a single foundation member was deemed qualified for an LGA chairmanship position.

Zero Elective Representation: Barring a single State House of Assembly ticket reluctantly conceded to a woman under intense pressure for gender balance, foundation members were completely shut out from all primary tickets.

“We have been pushed to the wall and will no longer remain silent. The truth must prevail. We will not fold our arms and watch the solid foundation we built with our blood and sweat be destroyed by political newcomers,” the statement warned.

Faulting Governor Peter Mbah’s deafening silence in the face of mounting grievances and rising defections to opposition parties, the aggrieved chieftains are calling on the national leadership of the APC and key stakeholders to urgently intervene before the internal rot destroys whatever cohesion is left of the party in Enugu State. When a house is deeply divided against itself from within, its collapse in 2027 is only a matter of time!
