JOINT SECURITY OPERATIVES RESCUE TWO KIDNAPPED VICTIMS AFTER GUN BATTLE IN ENUGU
Joint security operatives operating under the Enugu State Police Command have rescued two kidnapped victims unhurt following a fierce gun battle at a kidnappers' hideout.
According to official operational details released by Command Spokesperson SP Daniel Ndukwe, the rescue was accomplished through coordinated intelligence-led operations involving police tactical units, the Nigerian Army, Enugu State Forest Guards, and local vigilantes. Upon tracking the suspects, security forces engaged the gang in a firefight, forcing the kidnappers to abandon their captives and flee with suspected gunshot injuries.
Following the tactical breakthrough, security forces recovered several exhibits left behind at the criminals' enclave, including:
15 rounds of live 7.62mm AK-47 ammunition
Multiple mobile phones and accessories
Cash recovered from the scene
Personal effects and related incriminating items
Both rescued victims were immediately provided with medical evaluation and care before being safely reunited with their families.
The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Enugu, has commenced a comprehensive investigation to trace fleeing members of the syndicate, while joint mop-up operations continue across nearby forest axes.
