Lion Building Media Team Urges Enugu Citizens To Prioritize Grassroots Competence In Local And State Elections

ENUGU, NIGERIA — Ahead of upcoming electoral contests across Enugu State, civic advocates and political strategists are calling on residents to reject voter apathy and actively participate in local government and state elections.

In a statement released by the Lion Building Media Team for Nwakaibie, the campaign advocacy group emphasized that the quality of socio-economic development, rural infrastructure, and public services directly mirrors the choices voters make at the ballot box. The team noted that grassroots governance serves as the foundation for state-wide progress, making electoral scrutiny at the municipal and ward levels essential.

The media team outlined key criteria for voters assessing political candidates across all elective positions:

Capacity & Track Record: Evaluating candidates based on demonstrated leadership abilities, previous public or private sector achievements, and practical solutions for community development.

Integrity & Accountability: Rejecting transactional politics, empty campaign promises, and short-term inducements in favor of leaders committed to transparent governance.

Focus on Recovery: Prioritizing political movements that offer realistic frameworks for economic growth, infrastructure rehabilitation, and public welfare across Enugu's 17 Local Government Areas.

Reaffirming support for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji (Nwakaibie), the advocacy group concluded that true governance reform requires active civic engagement, urging citizens to examine candidates thoroughly and vote for proven leadership to secure the state's future.
