NKEREFI, ENUGU STATE — Visual evidence emerging from Nkerefi in Nkanu East Local Government Area has highlighted the extreme state of infrastructure decay facing rural communities across Enugu State, where residents remain cut off due to collapsed bridges and impassable roads.

​Video footage and eyewitness reports from the agrarian community show primary access routes reduced to treacherous mud trenches and critical bridge embankments completely washed away by erosion. Left without functional government intervention, local farmers and residents have been forced to stack makeshift sandbags and construct temporary wooden footbridges to maintain basic access to neighboring markets and health facilities.

​Addressing the situation, the Lion Building Media Team for Nwakaibie issued a critical analysis linking Nkerefi's condition to systemic political neglect. The media organization argued that rural road networks in agricultural strongholds are deliberately ignored during non-election years, only for political figures to resurface during campaign cycles with superficial favors and unfulfilled promises.

​The statement emphasized that leaving productive agricultural communities trapped in economic isolation undermines local livelihoods and food security across the state. Calling on the electorate to demand structural accountability, the advocacy group urged Ndi Enugu to reject transactional politics and prioritize candidates committed to sustainable rural development, durable civil engineering, and equitable distribution of public resources.
