OUTRAGE IN ABA AS 16-YEAR-OLD ENUGU INDIGENE IS SEVERELY BRUTALIZED BY AUNT OVER UNWASHED COOLER

Widespread indignation has erupted across Aba, Abia State, following the severe assault of a 16-year-old out-of-school boy from Enugu State by his guardian aunt after he allegedly failed to wash a specific food cooler among a pile of household dishes.

​The teenager, who had been brought from his hometown in Enugu State to reside with his aunt in Aba, suffered extensive bodily injuries, deep lacerations, and heavy bruising across his back and limbs during the violent attack. According to neighbors and eyewitnesses who raised the alarm, the incident occurred when the aunt discovered that the boy had washed all other kitchen utensils but inadvertently left one particular cooler untouched.

​Disturbed by the minor's cries and visible physical trauma, concerned residents intervened and contacted local civil society organizations and child rights advocates. Human rights groups operating in the commercial city promptly alerted law enforcement authorities, demanding the immediate arrest and prosecution of the perpetrator for child abuse, domestic violence, and severe physical battery.
