Outrage in Enugu: NDC Guber Candidate Sir Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa Condemns Killing of Party Member Nwolle Christopher Following Campaign Office Attack

Political tensions in Enugu State have reached an alarming threshold following the confirmation of the death of Nwolle Christopher, a member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) hailing from Affa in Udi Local Government Area. Christopher was shot by armed thugs during a violent assault on a peaceful gathering at the GRA campaign office of the NDC governorship candidate, Sir Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa, on October 10, 2026. Despite intensive medical efforts by party leadership to save his life, he ultimately succumbed to his gunshot wounds.

Following the tragedy, Sir Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa led a high-powered delegation—including Deputy Governorship Candidate Chief Frank Omeje, State Chairman Engr. Ibuchukwu Obeta, State Secretary Hon. Emmanuel Chukwujekwu Nebo, and other party leaders—to visit and commiserate with the grieving family.

In an official statement released by his media aide, Hon. Sampson Ukwu, Ohaa vehemently denounced the recurring wave of violence and political victimization targeting the opposition. He referenced previous violent incidents, including the September 12 ward meeting attack in Obuoffia (Nkanu West) where eight members sustained gunshot injuries, as well as the recent turbulence and tear-gassing of supporters at the airport.

Lamenting the loss of a vibrant young life, Ohaa stated:

"No election is worth a single drop of a citizen’s blood. Nwolle Christopher went out to support a vision for a better Enugu. Today he is gone. His twin brother is left with an empty half of his world. His family is shattered. His mum is totally heartbroken. We will not be silenced by violence. We will not be intimidated. The blood of Nwolle Christopher and all our injured members cries out for justice."

The party has formally challenged the government to explain why opposition members appear unprotected against recurring assaults. Consequently, the NDC has demanded an immediate, independent, and transparent investigation by the Inspector-General of Police and security agencies to ensure that all sponsors and perpetrators of the October 10 and Obuoffia attacks are apprehended and prosecuted. Despite the tragedies, party leaders under the presidential movement of Mr. Peter Obi affirmed that the rescue mission for Ndi Enugu remains resolute and unstoppable.
