Oyo Police Debunk Reports Claiming Release of Abducted Pupils and Teachers in Oriire LGA

The Oyo State Police Command has issued a strong disclaimer over viral messages circulating on social media claiming that abducted pupils and teachers from Ahoro Esiele and Yawota communities in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have been released.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the Command described the reports as false, misleading, and entirely unsubstantiated, urging the public to disregard them completely.

The Command reaffirmed that no such development has occurred as of the time of the release, adding that intensive and coordinated rescue operations are still ongoing to ensure the safe return of the victims.

According to the statement, security agencies are actively deploying human and operational resources to track down the abductors, secure the release of the victims, and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.

The police further cautioned against the spread of fake news and unverified information, warning that such reports could create unnecessary panic, disrupt ongoing operations, and undermine public peace.

Residents were urged to rely only on official communication channels from the Nigeria Police Force and other authorized government agencies for accurate updates on the situation.

The Command also encouraged citizens to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of security efforts while avoiding the circulation of sensational or unverified claims on social media.

Emergency contact lines were provided for public use as rescue operations continue.

The Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safe return of the abducted pupils and teachers, promising to keep the public informed as developments unfold.
