"POWER BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE": LION BUILDING MEDIA TEAM BACKS COMRADE KENEDY IYERE’S AUGUST 17 MOVEMENT AGAINST POLITICAL INTIMIDATION

The Lion Building Media Team for Nwakaibie has issued a compelling statement commending civil society leader Comrade Kenedy Iyere for his firm stance against political intimidation and the weaponization of administrative channels to suppress citizen participation.

​Highlighting the importance of constitutional democracy, the statement emphasized that attempts by state authorities to deploy legal or police mechanisms to block public assembly expose a deep apprehension toward public scrutiny. It stressed that temporary electoral mandates do not grant officeholders absolute control over civic spaces or the right to silence opposition voices.

​In defense of democratic principles, the media team reaffirmed that peaceful assembly and free expression remain the ultimate safeguards for electoral integrity and government accountability. It noted that the upcoming August 17 movement represents a vital national statement against political coercion and administrative high-handedness.
