"RELEASE KELWIZZY NOW": NSUKKA RESIDENTS CONDEMN POLICE ARREST OF ACTIVIST EXPOSING DEPLORABLE ROADS

Public indignation has intensified across Nsukka metropolis following the continued detention of a local content creator and whistle-blower, known as Kelwizzy, who was arrested after publishing video recordings highlighting the severe degradation of road infrastructure in the area.

​Residents and civil society commentators have described the arrest as an unwarranted crackdown on free expression, arguing that documenting public infrastructure deficits is not a criminal offense. Critics emphasized that while citizens are forced to navigate flooded roads and hazardous gullies during the rainy season, law enforcement agencies should prioritize tackling pressing security threats such as kidnapping and terrorism rather than silencing voices drawing attention to community hardship.

​Calls have grown louder for Governor Peter Mbah’s administration to step up infrastructural interventions across Nsukka and ensure that rural and suburban corridors receive urgent engineering attention rather than political intimidation.

​"We can’t be going backwards to where we left years ago. The government of Peter Mbah should step up and act now. You can’t abandon Ndi Nsukka for any reason. Police should release the guy who made this video immediately. He did not commit any crime. Go and face terrorists and kidnappers and leave innocent people alone."
