ROM EXTRACTION WHY CHIEF GEOFFERY UCHE NNAJI IS ENUGU'S INDISPENSABLE CHOICE FOR 2027

As a research career personnel at the University,  whose work sits at the intersection of Environmental Humanities, Sustainability Studies, and Indigenous Knowledge Systems, I assess leadership the way I assess scholarship: by its capacity to generate new knowledge, build institutions, and create value that outlives the individual. By that standard, Chief Geoffrey Uche Nnaji is not just a candidate for Governor of Enugu State in 2027. He is the state’s most LOGICAL, EVIDENCE -BASED CHOICE.

1. The Track Record of a Builder, Not a Tax Collector  
Chief Nnaji’s tenure as Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation showed what happens when a leader treats governance as R&D. He pushed partnerships that linked Nigerian universities to global tech and space research networks, and he advocated for turning raw knowledge into startups and jobs. Enugu, with UNN, ESUT, and IMT in its backyard, does not lack talent. It lacks a governor who can convert that talent into industry. Nnaji’s profile suggests he understands that distinction.

2. Policy Literacy for a Green and Knowledge Economy  
Enugu’s future wealth lies in three assets the current political conversation rarely coordinates: our gully-ravaged but reclaimable landscapes, our living Igbo heritage, and our youth. Nnaji’s background in science and industry positions him to frame these as a single agenda: a Green Innovation Corridor where eco-restoration, agro-processing, and cultural tourism create IGR without overburdening households. That is governance that grows the pie, rather than slicing a shrinking one.

3. Temperament for Coalition and Credibility with Donors  
International development partners fund governments that speak their language: gender-responsive climate finance, heritage preservation, data-driven planning. As an academic who has worked with INTERNATIONAL AND NATIONAL frameworks, I know how rare it is to find a politician who can move seamlessly between Nsukka’s village halls and Geneva’s donor roundtables. Nnaji’s national and international exposure gives Enugu that bridge.

The Contrast Is Policy, Not Personality  
Elections are about direction. Enugu deserves a DEBATE on whether the state’s competitive advantage is to keep increasing levies and levies, or to invest in the LABORATORIES, COOPERATIVES, and CREATIVE INDUSTRIES that make taxation lighter because the economy is broader. On that axis, Nnaji’s record points toward PRODUCTION, RESEARCH and PARTNERSHIPS. 

The Offer I Make as a Scholar and Citizen  
As Chief Nnaji becomes Governor, Enugu gains the chance to establish Nigeria’s first sub-national Ministry of Science, Innovation and Green Economy with a GENDER- CLIMATE MANDATE . 
I am prepared to serve in that architecture, bringing academic rigor, donor access, and community trust to deliver measurable wins in 100 days.

Enugu in 2027 needs more than continuity of method. It needs a PROFICIENT RESULT -DRIVEN GOVERNOR who sees the state as a knowledge ecosystem. Chief Geoffrey Uche Nnaji has demonstrated that VISION at the federal level. Give him the chance to localize it, and Enugu will stop being known for what it extracts from its people, and start being known for what it innovates for the WORLD.
