Sowore Says His “Minister of Defence Will Be a Drone” If Elected President
African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, Omoyele Sowore, has generated public discussion following a remark about his proposed approach to national security.
Speaking in a political engagement, Sowore said that if elected President, his administration would adopt a technology-driven model for defence and security operations.
According to him, innovation and automation would play a central role in reshaping how security challenges are addressed in Nigeria.
“If I become President tomorrow, my Minister of Defence will be a drone,” he stated, a comment that has since circulated widely across social media platforms.
The statement has sparked mixed reactions, with supporters describing it as a symbolic expression of his emphasis on modern technology and efficiency in governance, while critics argue that it raises questions about practicality and military leadership structure.
Sowore, a long-time activist and publisher, has consistently campaigned on themes of anti-corruption, institutional reform, and restructuring of Nigeria’s security architecture.
Political observers note that such remarks often reflect broader campaign messaging strategies aimed at drawing attention to alternative approaches to governance ahead of elections.
The comment continues to generate debate online as Nigeria’s political space heats up ahead of the 2027 general elections.
