Tensions Flare In Enugu North As Angry Residents Confront APC Campaigner Over Dilapidated Roads And Schools
ENUGU NORTH, ENUGU STATE — Political campaigning met sharp community resistance in Enugu North Senatorial District after local residents confronted an All Progressives Congress (APC) supporter wearing Governor Peter Mbah-branded attire over the state of basic rural infrastructure.
What began as a campaign visit quickly turned into an interrogation regarding local governance and grassroots development. Community members challenged the supporter to evaluate the physical conditions of the very access roads and basic education facilities serving the area:
Community: “As you were coming here, how did the road look?”
APC Supporter: “It is very terrible.”
Community: “Go and tell the people who sent you to come and construct the road for us.”
APC Supporter: “I will inform them.”
Community: “Is that not a primary school your community members attend? How is it?”
APC Supporter: “It is bad.”
Faced with visible infrastructure deficits, the party campaigner conceded to the residents' demands, promising to relay their grievances regarding deteriorating roads and public school facilities directly to party leadership.
The incident highlights growing voter insistence on tangible infrastructure and accountable representation as political engagement intensifies across Enugu State ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.
