ENUGU, NIGERIA — An intense administrative panic has gripped the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku-Ozalla, following explosive allegations of political interference and institutional expansionism targeting the federal tertiary healthcare center.

The outgoing Chief Medical Director (CMD) has been widely celebrated across medical unions as one of the most competent, welfare-oriented administrators the institution has ever produced, particularly due to his unmatched achievements in mass employment, staff regularization, and the stabilization of clinical operations. However, as the bidding for the coveted CMD position intensifies, deep anxieties are mounting that external political forces are angling to hijack the selection process to convert the federal asset into an extension of the state's commercialized apparatus.

Healthcare professionals and institutional vanguards are warning that if external political actors successfully plant a surrogate as the new CMD, UNTH risks being dragged down a path of decay far worse than the current reality at the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital (Parklane). The core concerns raised by inside observers include:
