Tragedy at Enugu NYSC Camp: Senate Orders Full Probe Into Avoidable Death of Corps Member Etimbuk Daniel Amid Systemic Medical Neglect

The sacred duty of the state to protect and safeguard the lives of young graduates deployed for national service has once again been brought into agonizing question. Comrade Etimbuk Daniel, a promising young Nigerian, lost his life under deeply distressing circumstances while undergoing the mandatory three-week orientation course at the NYSC camp in Enugu State.

​Reports established that the young corps member had initially reported feeling unwell with a minor headache and symptoms requiring medical attention. However, due to alleged gross delays, appalling institutional ineptitude, and a shocking lack of prompt emergency response at the camp clinic, his condition rapidly deteriorated. Despite frantic efforts by fellow corps members, the systemic decay of medical infrastructure, acute shortages of emergency personnel, and deeply flawed referral procedures meant he could not receive timely, life-saving intervention before slipping into a coma and passing away.
