Ugwogo Community Chairman and Nike Youth Leader Survives Alleged Assassination Attempt in Enugu
Tension has risen in Ugwogo Nike following an alleged violent attack on Chief Hon. Comr. Chijioke Udemezue Okoh, Chairman of the Umunonu Umuezeani Community Power of Attorney and President General of the Nike Youth General Assembly.
According to reports, the incident occurred at about 9:22 p.m. when unidentified hoodlums allegedly attacked the youth leader with dangerous weapons in what was described as a coordinated attempt on his life.
Sources said the community leader narrowly escaped after fleeing from the scene during the attack. Following the failed attempt, the assailants were alleged to have vandalized and severely damaged his vehicle.
Reports further indicated that the attackers later proceeded to his business premises, identified as Ugwumba Realtor and Properties Management Limited located at Orie Market in Ugwogo Nike, where additional destruction was allegedly carried out.
The incident has generated concern within the community, with residents calling for urgent intervention by security agencies to prevent further escalation.
Speaking after the attack, Chief Hon. Comr. Chijioke Udemezue Okoh reportedly expressed gratitude for surviving the incident and appealed to law enforcement authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
Community stakeholders and residents have also appealed for calm, urging youths and residents to remain law-abiding while security agencies address the matter.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities were yet to release an official statement regarding arrests or ongoing investigations connected to the incident.
