Underage Cybercrime And Exploitation Ring Uncovered At Delta Secondary School During Police Outreach

UGBORIKOKO, NIGERIA — Officers of the Nigeria Police Force uncovered evidence of cybercrime and minor exploitation during a routine safety and security outreach at a secondary school in Ugborikoko, Delta State.

The operation was led by CSP Setemi Agbede-Zuokumor, who detailed how law enforcement officers seized several flagship smartphones—including iPhone 16, iPhone 15, and high-end Samsung models—from students during ongoing instructional hours. Investigations triggered by the confiscation revealed that students were actively watching pornography and engaging in sexual activities inside classroom premises.

Key discoveries highlighted by law enforcement during the school inspection include:

International Cybercrime Infrastructure: A male student’s device was found to contain over 85 international Australian phone numbers utilized to run unauthorized online scamming schemes.

Exploitation & Content Sales: The same phone stored explicit images and videos of female students. The male student admitted to selling the intimate media for sums reaching up to ₦500,000, alleging that the female peers requested the sales.

Parental Disconnect: Authorities noted a significant financial divide when parents—many of whom work as local petty business operators—arrived at the station to claim the confiscated premium devices.

The revelation has sparked intense public discussion across Delta State regarding parental supervision, digital device access for minors, and community policing standards. While civic groups praised the intervention by CSP Agbede-Zuokumor for exposing the ring, education advocates are pressing for systemic reforms, including strict school mobile device policies and targeted digital ethics programs for teenagers.
