"WHY IS PASTOR ADEBOYE KEEPING QUIET?": ARCHBISHOP CHUKWUMA QUESTIONS CLERICAL SILENCE AND RELIGIOUS DYNAMICS UNDER TINUBU ADMINISTRATION

Prominent cleric and Anglican Archbishop Emeritus of Enugu, Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Chukwuma, has stirred public debate following critical observations regarding clerical leadership and religious dynamics under President Bola Tinubu's administration.

Addressing the role of spiritual leaders in national governance and public advocacy, the retired Archbishop openly questioned the silence of senior Christian leaders—specifically calling out General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye—over ongoing economic hardship and social challenges across the nation. Archbishop Chukwuma further waded into the delicate interplay between faith and regional politics in Nigeria, offering provocative commentary on northern and southern Islamic leadership structures and political alignments within the presidency.

The cleric’s outspoken comments have triggered widespread reactions across social media platforms and religious circles, renewing debates over the responsibility of religious leaders to challenge state policies and defend citizen welfare during times of economic reform.

"Even the head of Redeemed Church has not been speaking about what's happening in Nigeria. I don't know why Pastor Adeboye is keeping quiet. It’s quite unfortunate that Tinubu, who is a Muslim, knows he as a southern Muslim cannot lead northern Muslims in prayer, so no argument because he’s also viewed differently. No Yoruba person who is a Muslim can lead a northern Muslim in prayer."

While civil society organizations and faith-based groups continue to debate the proper boundaries between clerical advocacy and political commentary, Archbishop Chukwuma emphasized that spiritual leaders must remain consistent, bold, and fearless when speaking truth to power.
