Wike Fires Back at Turaki Over PDP Crisis, Raises INEC Portal Access Concern

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike, has reacted strongly to remarks attributed to the factional leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), issuing a defiant message over the ongoing internal crisis within the party.

Speaking during the party’s 109th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, Wike challenged PDP factional leader Taminu Turaki to observe closely developments expected around June 26 concerning access to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal.

Wike stated that the coming date would reveal those granted access codes for the uploading of primary election results, a process central to party nominations ahead of future elections.

His comments come amid escalating disagreements within the PDP over internal leadership control and procedures for managing party primaries and related electoral processes.

The minister’s remarks have further heightened tensions within the party as stakeholders continue to debate legitimacy, structure, and control ahead of upcoming political activities.

Party observers note that the dispute reflects deeper divisions within the PDP as various factions position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
