Anambra Police Arrest Woman Over Alleged Sexual Abuse of Minor, Rescue Four Children in Onitsha

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old woman, Anulika Onyeanusia, in connection with an alleged case of child sexual abuse and child pornography in Onitsha, Anambra State.

The arrest followed the circulation of a disturbing video allegedly showing the sexual abuse of a minor. According to the police, operatives acted on open-source intelligence concerning the video and arrested the suspect on the evening of September 10, 2026. 

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the operation also led to the rescue of four children aged two, three, six and nine years, while sex toys and other items considered relevant to the investigation were recovered.

The suspect is currently in police custody as investigators work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged offence and determine whether other persons may have been involved.

Police also confirmed that the suspect's husband is being questioned to establish whether he had any connection with the alleged offence. 

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, described the alleged abuse and exploitation of children as unacceptable and directed a thorough and professional investigation.

The command said its immediate priority is the safety, dignity and wellbeing of the rescued children. It further stated that relevant child-protection and support agencies would be engaged to provide the children with appropriate care, protection, counselling and other necessary support.

The police also assured that the identities and privacy of the children would be protected throughout the investigation and any subsequent legal proceedings. 

Meanwhile, various claims have emerged on social media concerning the alleged production, sale and distribution of explicit material involving children, as well as claims concerning the possible involvement of other individuals.
