INEC HOLDS NATIONAL WORKSHOP FOR POLITICAL PARTIES IN LAGOS AS PDP DELEGATION PARTICIPATES
The Independent National Electoral Commission has commenced a three-day national workshop for selected national officers of Nigeria’s 22 registered political parties, with focus on strengthening compliance with electoral regulations and improving political party financial accountability.
The workshop, which began on Tuesday at the BON Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, is themed: “The Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties, 2026 and the Political Party Finance Reporting and Audit Systems (PFRAS).”
According to information released by the Peoples Democratic Party, the party is being represented at the workshop by its National Secretary, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu; National Organizing Secretary, Hon. Capt. Umar Bature; and Deputy National Financial Secretary, Dr. Grema Kyari.
The party stated that the delegation attended the opening session and concluded activities for the first day of the workshop on Tuesday.
INEC said the training is designed to familiarize political parties with the updated 2026 regulations and guidelines, while also enhancing transparency and accountability in political party finance management through the Political Party Finance Reporting and Audit Systems framework.
The workshop is expected to continue until May 14, 2026, with representatives of political parties participating in sessions on compliance, reporting procedures, and institutional best practices within Nigeria’s electoral process.
