"NO SMEAR CAMPAIGN SHALL PROSPER": MEDIA TEAM DISMANTLES ALLEGATIONS AGAINST CHIEF UCHE NNAJI AHEAD OF 2027
The Lion Building Media Team for Nwakaibie has issued a comprehensive statement dismissing persistent political allegations against former Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, characterizing the ongoing controversies as politically motivated attempts to derail his 2027 Enugu State governorship ambition.
Addressing the three central accusations sequentially, the media team maintained that Chief Nnaji is a duly certified graduate of the University of Nigeria and noted that since the certificate controversy remains subject to ongoing judicial proceedings before the High Court in Abuja, the legal principle of presumption of innocence must be respected. On questions regarding his origin, the statement affirmed that Nnaji is an authentic indigene of Akpugo in Nkanu West Local Government Area, born to the family of the late Chief Obed Nnaji and Chief Mrs. Nnenna Monica Nnaji, emphasizing that ancestral heritage is established through verified family records rather than political propaganda. Regarding allegations of post-resignation ministerial salary disbursements, the team clarified that Nnaji immediately alerted the Accountant-General upon discovering the credited payments, refraining from withdrawing or utilizing the funds and directing official refund procedures.
The media team contended that political competition should be anchored on policy ideas, character, competence, and democratic mandates rather than media trials driven by opposition elements.
"Political competition should be decided by ideas, character, competence and the votes of Ndi Enugu, not publicity battles. If the intention behind these controversies was to weaken Nnaji politically, the outcome has proven differently. No smear campaign or political weapon deployed against a man who genuinely has the interests of Ndi Enugu at heart shall prosper. Enugu's future is bright with Nwakaibie."
The release concluded by assuring supporters across Enugu State that Nwakaibie’s political movement remains unshaken, reiterating that the ultimate mandate for the governorship of Enugu State in 2027 rests solely with the electorate at the ballot box.
