Power Shift Validated: INEC Portal Updates Seal Total Control of PDP Structure for Wike Faction

The internal power dynamic of Nigeria’s main opposition party has experienced a seismic and potentially final realignment following a comprehensive update on the official portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In its latest administrative modification, the electoral umpire completely removed the names of Ahmed Yayari and Daniel Woyengikuro from the listed national executive ledger of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Prior to the updates, Yayari and Woyengikuro had held onto their positions on the portal as the National Treasurer and National Financial Secretary, respectively. Both officials are prominent figures in the PDP faction heavily backed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the Turaki loyalist network. In their place, INEC has officially substituted and uploaded:

Odeyemi Mackson Oladiran as the substantive National Treasurer.

Eyim Donatus Henry as the recognized National Financial Secretary.

Both Oladiran and Henry are key loyalists of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, whose camp now enjoys undivided administrative legitimacy on the commission's institutional framework.

The sudden portal update effectively resolves a prolonged period of administrative confusion that had paralyzed decision-making within the party structures. Weeks prior, INEC had already taken a definitive position by recognizing the FCT Minister's faction at the apex level, formally publishing the names of Amb. Abdulrahman Mohammed as the National Chairman and Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary.

However, the commission’s initial decision to leave the Makinde-backed Treasury and Financial officers on the roster had created a highly fractured and unworkable leadership matrix. It triggered intense legal and administrative battles behind closed doors, as both factions fiercely contested who possessed the authentic authority to sign off on financial instruments, party expenditures, and candidate nomination forms for upcoming off-cycle elections.

With this recent regulatory synchronisation, the ambiguity has been completely stripped away. Every single member of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) and executive body currently displayed on the INEC portal is now firmly and exclusively aligned with the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s structure.

Political analysts observe that this structural clean sweep leaves the Makinde/Turaki alliance with severely limited institutional leverage. With INEC's official stamp now validating Wike’s total control over the party's machinery, the opposition's internal map has been fundamentally rewritten, positioning the recognized faction as the sole legal clearinghouse for all party activities, primary elections, and structural operations moving forward into the next electoral cycle.
