TINUBU PUSHES FOR ENHANCED INTRA-AFRICA TRADE AND ECONOMIC UNITY IN NAIROBI
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called for stronger economic integration among African nations as a critical pathway toward sustainable growth, industrial development, and shared prosperity across the continent. Speaking at a high-level summit in Nairobi, Kenya, the Nigerian leader emphasized the urgent need for African countries to deepen regional cooperation, strengthen intra-African trade, and remove barriers limiting economic advancement.
President Tinubu noted that Africa possesses enormous human and natural resources capable of transforming the continent into a major global economic force if properly harnessed through unity and strategic partnerships. He stressed that closer collaboration among African nations would enhance investment opportunities, improve infrastructure development, create jobs for millions of young people, and reduce dependence on external economies.
The President also highlighted the importance of fully implementing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), describing it as a major instrument for boosting commerce, industrialization, and economic competitiveness across the region. According to him, African leaders must work collectively to build stronger financial systems, improve cross-border trade policies, and encourage innovation and technology-driven development.
Tinubu further urged member states to prioritize policies that promote peace, political stability, and economic resilience, noting that sustainable development can only thrive in an environment of unity and cooperation. He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at accelerating Africa’s economic transformation and strengthening the continent’s voice in global economic affairs.
The Nairobi summit brought together African leaders, policymakers, investors, and development partners to discuss strategies for enhancing regional integration, trade expansion, infrastructure growth, and long-term economic sustainability across Africa.
