WATER ,INDUSTRY,AND NEGLECT : WHY UDI DESEVER MORE.

A Call for Equity: Why is Ụdị Forgotten in the Enugu Development Agenda?

It has been reported that ₦5 billion was spent on water projects to transport water from the hills of Ụdị(Nsude)down to Enugu Urban.

While we support the development of our state capital, a haunting question remains: If Ụdị is the source of this water, why are our taps still dry? It is a fundamental injustice to be the "landlords" of the water project, yet remain excluded from its benefits, including Nsude.
We are essentially providing the lifeblood of the city while our own people suffer from water scarcity.

The Industrial Engine with Broken Roads
Ụdị, specifically 9th Mile, is the industrial factory hub of Enugu State. We generate the revenue, we host the industries, and we provide the logistics link. Yet, our infrastructure does not reflect our contribution:

Road Infrastructure: Where are the promised roads? We are still waiting for the 10-kilometer-per-ward road projects promised by the state government.

Geographic Proximity: Ụdị shares direct boundaries with Enugu North, Enugu East, and Enugu South. Why does development seem to "stop" at the border, leaving Ụdị in the dark?
Acknowledging the Progress ("But...")

We want to be fair. We appreciate and acknowledge the arrival of:
The Smart Green Schools initiative.
The Type 2 Primary Health Care centers currently becoming operational in some Ụdị wards.
These are good starts, but they are not enough to offset the massive deficit in roads, water, and general urban planning.

A Call to Action for Ndị Ụdị and the Government
It is time for a shift in the narrative. Enugu State is not comprised only of the Enugu North, East, and South local governments.
"Development must be decentralised. If Ụdị powers the state's industry and quenches the state's thirst, Ụdị deserves to be a priority in the state's development budget."

Our Demands are Simple:
Water Equity: Extend the water distribution network to the host communities in Ụdị.
Infrastructure Accountability: Commmence the 10km ward roads immediately to facilitate the movement of goods from our industrial hubs.

Balanced Allocation: Ensure that the Ụdị/Agbaja axis is treated as an integral part of the "Enugu Project," not just a resource extraction zone.

Ndị Ụdị, let us sit up. We must demand that the development we help fund also reaches our doorsteps.
