Uche Geoffrey Nnaji’s Rising Political Influence Sparks Debate in Enugu, Says Dr. Amos Onovo
Political analyst and public affairs commentator, Dr. Amos Okwudili Onovo, has described Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji as one of the emerging political figures reshaping conversations ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Enugu State.
In a strongly worded opinion article, Onovo argued that the growing criticisms and political attacks directed at Nnaji are signs of the increasing influence and acceptance the former minister continues to enjoy across different parts of the state.
According to him, whenever a political figure begins to attract widespread grassroots support and public confidence, opposition forces often respond with propaganda, misinformation, and coordinated political hostility.
“The increasing attacks against Uche Nnaji are themselves silent confessions that his political influence has become impossible to ignore,” he stated.
The article accused some opposition actors and media platforms of allegedly promoting distorted narratives aimed at weakening public trust in the PDP governorship candidate, while insisting that many residents have become more politically conscious and capable of distinguishing between genuine criticism and politically motivated campaigns.
Onovo further described Nnaji as a leader whose political style is rooted in accessibility, development-focused engagement, simplicity, and grassroots interaction.
He argued that rather than retreat under criticism, Nnaji’s political movement continues to gain momentum among traders, youths, professionals, and ordinary residents across Enugu State.
The commentary also emphasized the importance of issue-based politics, warning against what the writer described as “politics of bitterness, sabotage, and manufactured falsehood.”
According to Onovo, leadership should be built on constructive ideas, development strategies, and practical solutions rather than personal attacks and division.
“As Enugu approaches another major political transition, the people must choose between resentment and progress, between propaganda and purposeful leadership,” he concluded.
The article has continued to generate reactions within political circles as debates intensify over the future political direction of Enugu State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
